On the nose, there’s subtle Highland peat smoke, sea breeze and vanilla. The body opens up with honeycomb, beeswax, oysters and black pepper. Caramel and bonfire smoke follows this – an excellent maritime dram.

Ardnamurchan Distillery

Now in its fifth year of welcoming visitors, The Ardnamurchan Distillery and Visitor Centre is located on the beautiful and wild Ardnamurchan Peninsula. Two styles of spirit are produced, peated and unpeated spirit, using locally barley grown.The distillery is fully reliant on renewable energy sources. Hydro-electricity from local river for electricity and cooling water, and biomass boiler using wood chip from a local forest for heat energy.Legal distilling was unknown on the remote Ardnamurchan peninsula until independent bottler Adelphi opened its distillery there in 2014. The Ardnamurchan Distillery opened in July 2014 producing two signature styles of spirit.

Mike Shepley, Edition Artist

Mike Shepley was born and lives in Edinburgh. He is a graduate of Edinburgh College of Art, highly acclaimed artist and member of the Scottish Society of Architect Artists.“Designing the “Illicit Still” in Edinburgh some 40 years ago complemented earlier journeys to the highlands and islands beyond. Remnants of one early illicit still lie on majestic Ardnamurchan. The Ardnamurchan Distillery has crafted with consummate care this unique malt. How we bring One-of-a-kindsingle cask whiskies to life

Stage 1

Spirit Selection

Our Director of Whisky, Alasdair Day, chooses the perfect spirit to work with. This comes from years of experience, friendship, and collaboration with the ﬁnest distilleries from Scotland and beyond.

Stage 2

Cask Selection

Once Alasdair has selected the perfect spirit, a cask is chosen that will accentuate the unique characteristics of the distillery’s spirit. He’ll take into account everything from the type of oak used, and the degree of charring, to the cask’s size and what liquid was previously held inside, for example Olorosso Sherry. Each element impacts the ﬁnal ﬂavour characteristics of the whisky.

Stage 3

Time

The ﬁnal ingredient is the marriage of spirit and cask. Alasdair chooses just the right amount of time to allow the complex and unique ﬂavours to blossom, giving that unrepeatable taste experience that only single cask whisky can bring. And in the meantime, while the whisky is maturing, you can reserve a bottle at a discounted price before it is bottled.

Whether you’re buying a bottle to drink right away, or setting on your maturation journey, the time will come to receive your single cask whisky. And this isn’t the only thing that’s unique - the bottles from each individual cask will have their own bespoke label, designed by upcoming artists, showcasing the individuality of each whisky produced.
