Craigellachie Distillery sits in the heart of Speyside, perched on a rocky hill where the rivers Fiddich and Spey converge. It produces a distinctively robust Single Malt Scotch, famous for its traditional use of "worm tub" condensers which limit copper contact during cooling.This old-school process creates a uniquely "meaty" and oily spirit, often characterized by heavy notes of sulphur and bonfire smoke balanced by sweet pineapple and tropical fruits.

Steve Carroll

Steve graduated from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art, Dundee, with an honours degree in illustration and printmaking in 1991. Shortly after, he moved to Edinburgh where Steve developed a pen and ink style.His first regular commissioned work from 1994-97 was for The Scotsman newspaper. Once a week, Steve would draw subtle caricatures of famous personalities for the ‘Portrait’ column, five of which are now part of the permanent collection in the Scottish National Portrait Gallery.Now based near Aberlour, Steve continues to complete editorial and design projects which have included Alta Journal of California, The Economist, and Fairfax and Favor.

How we bring One-of-a-kindsingle cask whiskies to life

Stage 1

Spirit Selection

Our Director of Whisky, Alasdair Day, chooses the perfect spirit to work with. This comes from years of experience, friendship, and collaboration with the ﬁnest distilleries from Scotland and beyond.

Stage 2

Cask Selection

Once Alasdair has selected the perfect spirit, a cask is chosen that will accentuate the unique characteristics of the distillery’s spirit. He’ll take into account everything from the type of oak used, and the degree of charring, to the cask’s size and what liquid was previously held inside, for example Olorosso Sherry. Each element impacts the ﬁnal ﬂavour characteristics of the whisky.

Stage 3

Time

The ﬁnal ingredient is the marriage of spirit and cask. Alasdair chooses just the right amount of time to allow the complex and unique ﬂavours to blossom, giving that unrepeatable taste experience that only single cask whisky can bring. And in the meantime, while the whisky is maturing, you can reserve a bottle at a discounted price before it is bottled.

Whether you’re buying a bottle to drink right away, or setting on your maturation journey, the time will come to receive your single cask whisky. And this isn’t the only thing that’s unique - the bottles from each individual cask will have their own bespoke label, designed by upcoming artists, showcasing the individuality of each whisky produced.
