One of the most common questions we get from customers is about how we operate. We might look like a big operation from the outside but the reality is that there's only a small team behind the curtain of Caskshare. Six people, 54 casks and lots to do – we like to think we're a small but mighty team bringing you the best single cask whisky out there.
Here's five things we might be doing on a typical week (some more glamorous than others).
- Tasting
Yes, tasting might seem like a perk of the job and we certainly see it that way but every whisky we list has been tasted, discussed and evaluated by the whole team. We believe that each member of our team is important and that's why we like to decide on what goes on the platform together. We get samples from incredible casks, managed by master distillers from around the world so it's always tough to choose what we'd like to share with you all.
2. Festivals
Meeting you all is a professional and personal highlight for us. You meet one third of the company when you approach our stand so far from being a rep, we're behind the customer service, campaigns and bottlings that you love. It's great to get your feedback and, more importantly, let you taste our favourites whiskies.
3. Social time
We're far from a 9-5, with weekend work and round the clock customer care so we love nothing more than taking time to have a dram together and take 5 out of our day to celebrate the little wins. We decided to celebrate burns night in style with a selection of Sugar Daddy's bakery goodies and a sample of a soon to be revealed cask.
4. Member tastings
Our Whisky ambassador Euan spends a lot of his time hosting private tasting and member events online as part of our  Collective membership and our work with local groups. Hosting people in our newly refurbished office is really exciting and we can't wait to do more sessions from Caskshare HQ.
5. Samples, shipping and sorting
We're a team of six so that means a lot of pitching in on both the big and the small parts of operating our business. Your sample packs are often chosen, packed and sorted by us. We're also pulling together the content for tastings and lining up special guests to join us so there's always a long to-do list to work through.
