Meet the artist: Laura Benetton

Laura is originally from Italy, now living in London. In Laura’s work she often draws inspiration from the science field as she received her Masters in Art and Science at Central Saint Martins University in London. Science is implemented throughout her art, sculpture, light installations, and performance. Through the creative process Laura dives deep into her work and is meticulously questioning the artistic choices being made and marrying together her scientific research with the visual arts.

With Laura’s abstract style, inspiration is drawn from the natural world, bioluminescence, and movement science. Experimenting with light is something that can be seen throughout Laura’s work over the past few years Laura started exploring the possibilities with LED lighting through her time at Shenzhen, China. This culminated into an intricate LED light sculpture. The process was completely new to Laura as an artist however she fully embraced the journey and took every opportunity to expand her knowledge and skillset.

Integrating art into a Caskshare release not only enhances the visual appeal but also infuses the experience with a captivating narrative, seamlessly blending artistic expression with the exploration of fine spirits.

Laura told us…

“I feel incredibly honoured and excited to have my art featured on a Caskshare release. It signifies a remarkable opportunity to extend the reach of my creative vision to a wider audience, allowing my artwork to transcend traditional boundaries and reach enthusiasts in a unique and engaging way.”

Artistic process is something which is ever changing, originally having a more ridged 9-5 studio structure, Laura has stepped away from that naturally where it has allowed more space for practices such as painting and illustrating to happen with a more natural flow.

Laura told us, "Quarzo" emerged as a culmination of a dynamic artistic process that sought to redefine the boundaries of movement.” This was a meticulous and intense process that took weeks that aimed to encapsulate the essence of the natural world through using contrasting colours and hues, initially inspired by the intricate patterns of the butterfly.

Through working on the Caskshare project. Laura’s aspiration is to start conversations and open people minds to what the visual story is. The idea of pushing boundaries and going outwith the box is something her art effortlessly translates.

Caskshare's Collective Series Collaboration with Laura, an Auchroisk single cask, cask strength Oloroso Barrique release is available to reserve now.
