I’m originally from West Yorkshire but have made my home in Leith, close to where I studied BA (hons) Illustration at Edinburgh College of Art. Since graduating I have continued to explore printmaking, teaching myself to screenprint through trial and error, making a lot of mess along the way. Most of my work starts from drawings I’ve made I my sketchbook. I like to take drawing trips out of the city, often to the seaside, where I can observe nature. I have always lived in cities and so I treasure the quiet stillness of the coast. I aim to celebrate nature, exaggerating the bright colours and noticing the fine shapes and details.
For my artwork for Caskshare I wanted to capture my perfect summer day. I’m looking out of a window in a cottage in the middle of nowhere, nobody or miles but me, drawing a beautiful landscape.
