Steve graduated from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art, Dundee, with an honours degree in illustration and printmaking in 1991. Shortly after, he moved to Edinburgh where Steve developed a pen and ink style.
His first regular commissioned work from 1994-97 was for The Scotsman newspaper. Once a week, Steve would draw subtle caricatures of famous personalities for the ‘Portrait’ column, five of which are now part of the permanent collection in the Scottish National Portrait Gallery.
Now based near Aberlour, Steve continues to complete editorial and design projects which have included Alta Journal of California, The Economist, and Fairfax and Favor.
